8mm movie event
On 6 May 2023, there was a special film event at the Bud Spencer Museum. 8mm movie collector Andreas Chmielewski had brought his 8mm projector and some treasures from his collection. So on the museum's Terrazza Napoli, which was filled to capacity, he showed the two films "Even Angels Eat Beans" and "Crime Busters" in their Super 8 cut versions.

The four 8mm reels of the film "Even Angels Eat Beans"
At that time, "Even Angels Eat Beans" was released by UFA on four rolls, each 150 metres long, and each roll had to be bought separately. At the time of release, a reel cost about DM 180, so a hefty DM 720 was due for the complete film - a more than proud sum. In addition, 150 metres in length at 24 frames/sec. corresponds to a running time of about 25 minutes. All four reels together are therefore no more than 100 minutes long. The uncut film, however, runs 125 minutes, which is why a separate, edited version had to be created for the Super 8 release. This version was shown on this evening.
The three 8mm reels of the film "Crime Busters"
For "Crime Busters" the cuts were even more massive, because the film was only released by UFA on three reels, each 110 metres long. Of course, this saved costs, but resulted in losses in running time. The 3x 110 metres of the film result in a running time of just 54 minutes. The uncut film runs 115 minutes, twice as long as the Super 8 version.
Andreas moderates in Bud's original catcher's coat from the film. Interesting conversations in the foyer of the museum.
The fans are waiting for the start.
